Based on the six principles of centering, concentration, control, efficiency of movement, precision and breathing, The Pilates Method emphasizes core strength and stability while promoting flexibility and freedom to move with out pain. The use of specialized equipment developed by Joe Pilates are spring based, creating a safe, effective way to uniformly develop your body. Each session will leave you feeling mentally and physically integrated, invigerated and buoyant!

INSTRUCTORS

Mary Ellen Bryan's movement career began in 1987, studying ballet under the Royal Academy of Dancing technique, which lead her to a professional dance and choreographic career. In 1999, studying with master teachers Michele Larson and Virginia Nicholas, she earned a Pilates Certification through Core Dynamics Pilates. Mary Ellen has trained with many great teachers who have played a part in building her unique and accessible teaching style in across movement modalities.

She graduated with her Master’s in 1993 from the Academy of Physical Therapy Education in Krakow, Poland. After years of exploring tools to deepen her approach, she discovered Pilates and received her teaching certification through Balanced Body and under Mary J. Brown. She also teaches The Hoffman Concept and practices Craniosacral Therapy with clients; her intentions are to assist them in overcoming their unique challenges and return to pain free, harmonious movement.

After years of her own dedicated practice she decided to take her love of Pilates to a professional level and completed the comprehensive 500 hour teacher training program through Balanced Body in 2015. Her goal in teaching is to strengthen the client through the intelligent exercises of Pilates, reinforce balance, restore posture and create a general sense of well-being that you could take from the studio into your daily life. She is passionate about the power of Pilates for the mind as well as the body, and her love of movement expands into the world of Yoga as she is currently enrolled in a 200 hour YTT program.

Group Equipment Class has a maximum 4 students per class, allowing for adequate attention to aid in your personal understanding of the Pilates technique. You will experience the Reformer, Chair, Pole System and Spine Corrector throughout class sessions. Use of the equipment provides deeper body feedback, and you will quickly experience the total body benefits of a Pilates practice!

Pilates Mat Fusion draws attention to the flow of movement and power center at your core, challenging your body and giving you a great workout. Choreography supports the process of creating long, lean musculature. Props such as Magic Circles, foam rollers, light weights, Fletcher Towels and various physio balls are incorporated for added variation to the classical exercise repertoire.
