Welcome to Central Studios’s 2016-2017 dance season! The Central studio Team is ready to dance and grow with you through new classes, exciting performances and new events. We look forward to a wonderful season with you and your children!
Central Studio has two performances scheduled for 2016-2017 dance season, Saturday January 28th, 2017 and Saturday, May 13, 2017. (Save those dates!)
The Winter Concert is Polie and Scarlett’s Fantastic Adventure, the sequel to Winter 2016 Concert, Scarlett’s Journey Home written by our own Mary Ellen Bryan. Each class will have their very own song and cast of characters that work within the story.
The spring concert is a showcase of dance pieces reflect the full year of students work and development.
This season’s class offerings include Performance Track classes open to all students interested in performing in the 2016-2017 concert series. Interested students commit to concert participation at the beginning dance season and classes close to new students on November 1st, 2016. Performance Track classes include regular class time, additional rehearsal time, as well as a full rehearsal schedule leading up to performances. Rehearsal schedules are based on age and level with lighter rehearsal schedules for our youngest dancers. If for any reason a student cannot perform, please inform the teacher as soon as possible and understand that classes will include at least 20 minutes of rehearsal time, typically at the end of each class.
Performance track requirements:
$60 performance fee per performer per season. This fee covers costume use as well cleaning and restocking of all costumes used by the student throughout the season, teacher compensation for extra rehearsal time, and performance t-shirt.
Consistent class attendance. Students in performance track classes may miss no more than one class per month in order to perform in concerts. Additional absences due to illness, injury or family emergencies will be considered on a case by case basis and student participation will be at the discretion of the teacher. We will alway accommodate each student to the best of our ability.

Youth program dance classes are open to all students at any time. With a focus on technique, these classes provide a great opportunity for all students to learn new skills and improve existing skills.
The Central Studio team is committed to holistic dance education and Super Saturdays provide educational enrichment opportunities for our young dancers. Our Youth Program dancers will enjoy offsite local dance company performances as well as special events at Central Studio. Carpooling options for off site events will be available to students as needed for your convenience. Parents are encouraged to attend Super Saturday events. Please see our Events Calendar at www.centralstudiostl.com/calendar for for more information. Ticket pricing and event admission details to follow. Check the front desk for sign up postings.
Shoes and Attire:
Ballet and Tap classes require specific dance shoes. We know kids feet grow quickly and shoes can get expensive, so we have designed a shoe trade system to help. When it is time for your child to go up a shoe size, check in at the front desk to see if an appropriate pair of shoes is available. If so, trade your child’s current shoes for a pair that fits at no charge. While we cannot guarantee to have your child’s size, we do our best to help as many families as possible.
Appropriate attire for all classes includes close fitting, comfortable, flexible and stretchy clothing. Fitted stretchy clothing allows teachers to view your child’s body alignment and allows for freedom of movement in class. We encourage leotards and tights in all levels of dance classes.
The Central Studio Team is happy to assist with any additional questions you may have regarding dance shoes and attire. Ballet and Tap shoes and dance attire can be purchased through both local and online retailers included in the list below.
