What is Central Studio Academy? Is this new?

Same awesome dance classes, shiny new programming! We’ve been working hard for the past couple years to fully implement our vision for Central Studio’s youth dance classes. The Central Studio Academy (or CSA) is our comprehensive youth program that includes movement, dance, tumbling, productions, summer camps and more. Click here to see the full “road map” of the CS Academy and how we aim to help our dancers grow and learn from preschool to high school.

I missed the beginning of the semester. Can I still sign my child up for classes?

We would love to have your child join the CS Academy even if they’ve missed the beginning of the school year! Depending on when your dancer enrolls some classes may be full, but we would love to help you find the best CSA class to fit your family’s needs and get your dancer moving! Please reach out to us to get started.

Is it better to purchase classes online or in person?

We recommend purchasing classes online so that you can fill out registration paperwork in advance and guarantee your child’s spot in class. This is also the best place to stay informed about class changes and studio breaks.

Coming to the studio is a viable option if you’d like more information before you register. Please be sure to come 10 minutes early so you have time to fill out the paperwork.

I have multiple children who are interested in joining the CS Academy. Is there a discount for siblings?

Yes! Siblings in the Academy do receive a discount because they are charged together for weekly classes. (For example, siblings taking 1 class/week would be charged together for the 2 classes/week price ($120/month) instead of separately for 1 class/week each ($65/month x 2 = $130/month).

CS Academy Pricing

What is the $35 Annual Enrollment Fee?

This is an annual fee that applies to the Academy school year from September - June. It helps us continue to provide the best resources possible for the growth of your dancer and assists with consistent administrative support for all CS Academy families.

Where can I buy reasonably priced shoes and other dance wear?

We recommend shopping locally at St. Louis Dancewear or Head to Toe Dancewear. Attire can also be found online at Capezio, Dancewear Solutions and Amazon among others.

What are your tuition and cancellation policies?

Central Studio collects tuition monthly through automatic withdrawal, from a debit or credit card, on the 1st of the month (unless balance is paid in advance). If you would like to cancel enrollment for your dancer, please notify us by the 20th of the month prior to your desired cancellation month for our administrative staff to execute cancellation at the appropriate time.

What are the CS Academy make-up policies?

We do not prorate or refund for absences, but we do offer make-ups. Families must reach out to the Academy Director or Studio Manager to find a suitable make-up class. Make-up classes must be taken before the end of the Academy School Year and will not roll over into the next school year.

Do you offer virtual class options?

We don’t currently offer virtual classes for Academy students. Please let us know if you are interested in a virtual program.

Is there a recital for CSA?

Yes! An in-studio Progress Presentation Performance is held in March. Each class has an opportunity to perform for their biggest fans in our in-studio theater. We also offer special performing opportunities throughout the season specifically for CSA students:

  • Ballet 314's community cast's Nutcracker. Auditions are in August, rehearsals are at CS on Sundays and performances are held in December.

  • Our Aerial and Improvisation classes have their very own performance in April providing the opportunity to show off their bright skills and creativity.

  • CS Academy Main Stage Production. At the end of each season in June, all CS Academy dancers perform in a main stage community production. CSA participates in an original story featuring original choreography, live music, and guest appearances from local professional dance companies developed and produced by Collective Motion. Rehearsals are mainly held in classes or specifically scheduled according to casting. Learn more
