Central Studio offers adult dance classes for all levels and backgrounds at both our Central West End and Webster Groves locations. Whether you're new to movement or returning to dance, you’ll find a welcoming space to explore Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, Hip Hop Cardio, Dance Fitness, and now Adult Aerial classes.

Our Central West End studio is located just across from Forest Park, while our Webster Groves studio brings new class options to the vibrant, arts-focused community.

Ballet

In-Studio | CWE

Ballet 101: An introductory hour of ballet for beginners and those new to dance. Ballet 101 focuses on foundational ballet technique, vocabulary, and coordination as students build confidence to progress to Ballet levels 1 and 2. Classes begins with a barre warm-up to introduce basic terms and then moves to center work where students practice balance and coordination. This class is a great way to start a ballet journey with skilled instructors in a supportive environment.

Level 1: Beginner Total body exercise for anyone with feet! Adult Ballet 1 will improve students' flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination by introducing beginner-level ballet technique and vocabulary. Fulfill your childhood dream of becoming a graceful ballerina/ballerino with our skilled instructors and, as a bonus, leave with a sense of artistic accomplishment!

Level 2: Intermediate Students will refine their ballet technique and expand their vocabulary in the intermediate-level setting of Adult Ballet 2. Classical ballet technique focuses on flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination as well as artistry, musicality, and memory. Our skilled instructors strive to holistically empower and energize students through the art of ballet.

Pointe: Intermediate Step up into the world of pointe. This specialized class is designed for students who are ready to elevate their technique. Students will focus on developing strength, balance, and precision through exercises tailored to dancing en pointe. Pre-pointe students are welcome to take this class in flat shoes without previous pointe experience. Students will gain foot, leg, and ankle strength - so yes! it is still beneficial.

Ballet Variations: Intermediate/ Advance This class is designed for adults with ballet experience looking to refine technique while learning classical and contemporary ballet variations. Each class focuses on musicality, artistry, and performance quality, with attention to clean and expressive movement. Dancers will explore excerpts from well-known repertory while building strength and confidence. Ever dreamed of being a principal dancer? This is your time to shine!

What to wear: Exercise attire or leotard & tights. Socks or ballet shoes. Hair must be pulled back.

Tap

In-Studio | CWE

Level 1: Beginner We've got rhythm! We've got music! Adult Tap 1 introduces basic tap dance steps to help students improve their coordination, balance, and rhythmic understanding. Class format includes a warm-up, skill training, traveling tap progressions, and dance combination to put all the pieces together!

Level 2: Intermediate Adult Tap 2 challenges intermediate-level students to refine their technique, skills, and rhythm for more intricate tap dancing. Class format includes a warm-up, skill training, traveling tap progressions, and dance combination to put all the pieces together!

What to wear: Comfortable clothing and tap shoes (we have a limited supply of shoes to borrow).

 

Hip Hop Cardio

In-Studio | CWE

Students will learn new moves and elevate their mood with this vibrant, dance cardio experience. Hip Hop Cardio provides a full-body workout that balances endurance building and muscle strengthening through hip-hop-inspired movement.

All Levels - Modification Options - Medium to High Impact 

Focus: Med-high impact cardiovascular endurance, coordination, improved memory with combination memorization

What to Wear: Sneakers, fitness leggings/shorts/pants, and a comfortable top.

 

Contemporary

In-Studio | CWE, Webster

Levels 1 & 2: Emotionally-expressive, technique-driven, and athletically-inclined, this dance form will push dancers to the next level of artistry. Through the use of technique exercises and combinations, dancers will enhance their musicality, coordination, flexibility, and strength. Pairing this class with ballet is highly recommended.

What to wear: Exercise attire or leotard & tights. Socks or jazz shoes. Hair must be pulled back.

Aerial

In-Studio | Webster

All Levels: Take your workout to new heights in this fun and upbeat class for adults of all levels. Build full-body strength, flexibility, and confidence as you learn beginner-friendly poses, tricks, and flowing sequences on the silks. Enjoy plenty of support and laughter while making new friends and flying high. No experience needed. Just bring your sense of adventure and get ready to soar!

What to wear: Fitted leggings and a snug top with sleeves (no zippers or jewelry for safety). Hair must be pulled back.
Clean Bare Feet and a sense of adventure is required!
