Third Shade Variation from 3rd Act of La Bayadere

La Bayadere, or "The Temple Dancer" is a ballet set in India centering the love of Nikia, a temple dancer and Solor, a warrior. Solor is pressured to marry Gamzatti, the Rajah's daughter instead, who poisons Nikia by snake bite. In his grief over Nikia's death, Solor smokes opium and dreams of the Kingdom of the Shades (the spirit world) where he is reunited with his beloved Nikia.
The third shade variation appears during the Kingdom of the Shades and requires strength, flexibility, and control as it showcases high extensions and slow, sustained pirouettes.
