Continuing Education Workshops with Amy Taylor Alpers February 21st and 22nd
Saturday, February 21st from 12:30-3:30pm
Find Your Center Through Your Feet and Hands
This workshop explores the Pilates exercises through the perspective of hands and feet better connecting to our brain and center, to learn how to achieve the fullest potential of the movements and create whole body health. Watching film of a cheetah running, we will discover how the feet/hands trigger the appropriate action of all other muscles to enable the most
efficient, effective movement possible. In this way, breathing is enhanced and unimpeded, and
movement more powerfully cleanses and re-oxygenates the body, creating true integrated whole body movement.
All workshops and master classes held at Central Studio Clayton: 7331 Clayton Rd.
Sunday, February 22nd from 12:30-3:30pm
Don’t Make a Rule About it!
This workshop will help all Pilates teachers, new and old, learn how to trust their own judgment to determine what rules to follow and which to be more flexible about.
Most importantly, we learn which ones are real and which ones have become 'real' over the
years. The only true fundamental rule is “uniform development so you can breathe and circulate.” Every other rule must bow to this one in the end.

Amy Taylor Alpers
Co-founder of The Pilates Center, Amy received her Pilates training at the original NYC Pilates studio with her sister Rachel Taylor Segel, under Romana Kryzanowska, Joseph Pilates’ protégé. Little did they know, but they would play a significant role in the rebirth of the industry as well as become an integral part of Pilates’ history.
Before starting on their Pilates journeys, Amy and Rachel studied ballet and danced professionally—Rachel with the David Taylor Dance Theatre and with Brent Mason and Company, and Amy with The Garden State Ballet. Amy and Rachel met Romana in New York City in the mid-1980s, founded The Pilates Center in Boulder in 1990, and the rest is history.
Today, Amy and Rachel are Master Pilates Teachers and Teacher Trainers, published authors of the “Everything Pilates Book,” and designers of a line of classically inspired Pilates equipment called CenterLine in partnership with Balanced Body.
